How to Alternate the Color between Rows in Microsoft Excel


When you make a spreadsheet on Excel and data is too long and it is very difficult to read all the data because in it both the rows and columns are in the same color and it affects the eyes. So to make that large spreadsheets easier to read. You can insert alternating colors between rows. By doing this you can make your data more attractive and easier to read. But to do this your computer setup should be in perfect condition. In this blog I describe you the ways to insert alternating color in the rows in the Microsoft Excel data sheet.

In Excel the process of inserting alternate color I the rows known as color banding.
First of all you need to select the cells you want to apply color banding to.

After that you need to click on Conditional Formatting option from the styles tab on the ribbon. After clicking on conditional formatting option a list options is display on your screen here you need to click on New Rule option.

Now a New Formatting Rule window is open on your screen. Here click on option labeled Use a Formula to Determine Which Cells to Format.

Now type the formula =MOD(ROW()/2,1)>0 in the empty format value field. After putting this formula click on format button. After that choose the fill option. After clicking on it numbers of colors shown on the screen, select the color you want to fill in the rows and press OK. Then again press OK in the New Formatting Rule windows where it will display you the color Preview.
